These are some corrections for common deviations I see in the two handed kettlebell swing. The shoes I hold up are called Vibrams Five Fingers.

Yeah, I don’t think those things would respond well to fire. :)

You DO look like a freak in the 5Fingers, and so do I. I would wear mine all day, if I could, but I don’t think they’re made for the fire service. Thanks for the vid. It really helped me make corrections to my swing.

It could just be the knee being mobilized beyond your normal range of motion. That being said, going too deep is not good. It’s hard on your back, and you’ll end up squatting the bell. Try to get your thighs at a 45 degree angle. Another way to look at it, is that your thighs and back should have similar angles. So if your thighs are almost parallel to the floor and your back is upright, that’s no good.

Are there any possible issues with going deeper? Someone told me it may be bad for the knees, but I thought this was only if you have improper form and bend the knees before the hips. I’m only asking because I did 1 arms swings yesterday and noticed my right knee cracking at almost every right arm rep.
I never had this before and it is not painful. Could this be related to something else?

Thanks Jordan. I’m a beginner wit KB myself so I try and pay attention to the small details, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong by going deep. Thanks.

Good eye. Mostly that is just my personal adaptation after doing many, many swings. I always admonish beginners to get the hips down and back, because they don’t have the snapping power and technique yet to do shallow swings.

Question, when you are doing the swings you don’t seem to be getting very deep, meaning your but is staying pretty high. I was always under the impression you were supposed to drop the butt lower?? Great video by the way.

Thanks Martin. The shoes are called ‘Vibram’s Five Fingers’. You can find them if you do a google search. They are phenomenal.

Hi Jordan,

Brilliant clip as always. What are those trainers you show the camera. Was either looking to get a pair of those or nike free but cant remember what those ones are called and who makes them!

Cheers

Martin
